fifty nine

last weekend was wonderful! jordan was in town and it was shel's twenty first birthday!
we started the weekend with a jaunt to the casino where everyone but Kelly lost all of their $20. then we met up with the rybergss for dinner at llyelyns...** lewelyns ** lew ellyns.. i have no idea how to spell that name. halfway through dinner i went to the airport to pick up my man. we then proceeded to electric cowboy with the gang to meet up with sam & beau. Fantastic music, better company makes for a spectacular night. especially when we got to watch the boys play with the punching bag to see how much torque they had in a punch.... oh boys. you'll be happy to know that i got up to 400 whatevers! lol

saturday was productive with my momma working away in the kitchen remodeling, and jordan and i went to go ring shopping for him. that was tough work.... jordan didn't not want to do this. but after going to two places we settled on a ring from jared. yes Mr. Anders he went to you....
the end result is a gorgeous white-gold- brushed ring. after that we thought we would try our luck with a bit of furniture shopping... well that was an fail. we have figured out that if you are under the age of t60 you will not find one single piece of worthy furniture at caroll house.... ugh.

overall it was a great weekend. i
i must say however that the 'saying goodbye' bit is really getting old. seriously only fifty nine days left till i don't have to say goodbye anymore . that is what i will love the most.

we found our new apartment! jordan went over yesterday and took some pictures.... SOOOOOOOO very excited. now i will have a home for all of my wonderful gifts! yay!

holy smoking countdown!

i finally reached double digits, man i thought this day would never come. AND tomorrow will be exactly three months till the wedding. now that is incomprehensible. only three months left. jimminy cricket i remembered when we started this countdown at one year and nine months. whoa.

so i decided to start a new project... no surprises there. i really need to make a list of everything that i have made for this single day in the future. this new project is a string of flowers made from coffee filters.... we'll see how they turn out

well friends and stalkers, it has been forever since i have posted about anything. last weekend was my very first bridal shower! thrown by my wonderful wysocke family. it was basically a mexican luau. complete with grass skirt and guacamole. it was so fantastic! everyone was able to come which in itself was amazing! i was extremely spoiled with presents. after this shower my kitchen will already be half stocked! i can't express enough thanks to everyone for being there and making it a perfect wedding shower.

so last night i was going through all the paper i have left in 4 years of art supplies. and surprisingly with the exception of my seed paper i bought a year ago, i should have enough to make the invites, the programs and the escort cards! sweetness! the envelopes are due in the mail today and they will be the brown kraft paper. 100% recycled! which is great for our 'natural' type wedding style we seem to be going for.

also something extremly exciting..... lol once again, maybe to me but you might be stifiling a yawn....we got in our 'H' wax seal stamp as well as the metalic sage color wax! whoo hoo. i played with it last night and it looks swell!needless to say last night i stayed up way too late in the midst of paper and it was awesome.

what a perfect time to discuss cakes! on my birthday, one hundred seventy two days before my wedding day.

Simple, elegant, with flowers, or quilt-like patterns, or dots. That is my love. Here are a few from bakeries here in the STL. who knows what my cake will look like but maybe something like the following.

veils:

why are veils so ridiculous looking? Seriously, the only ones that look good to me are the retro netting ones, i think they are called birdcages (see below)

however my problem is that I don't think this will go with my dress. i'll have to mock it up in photoshop but i think i will have to stick with traditional.

Since i am attempting to make my own veil i have been doing some research and have found that there are all these rules that go along with veils. a lady has seriously made a webpage dedicated to how people wear their veils all wrong. for example i have seen a lot of brides that wear their veil under their hair bun. according to this lady that is wrong... who knew!

then the whole length deal. i could get one that was to my shoulders or one that is longer than my dress train. the rule of thumb here is that if your dress has decoration of any kind on the back it should fall above or below it. if the veil ended right in the middle of the back deco then it would be too busy and you would loose the detail. ah

i do know that i do NOT want to look like a snow beast with the veil perched way atop my head like this poor thing:

we are now officially out of the two-hundreds! we have also just finished the biggest achievement to date, we have booked our honeymoon! here we come st. lucia! seven days in paradise, such a welcome retreat from life. i wish i could head out on it right now. we are staying at a resort with beautiful views of the Piton mountains. oh! i can't wait

i have finished the table runners! finally finally finally. 51 table runners done and put away! thanks to Em, Shel, Mom, Dad, Sam, and Kim. seriously everyone helped. Em for sure has the record, she totals something like: 38 Ironed and 20 frayed. i could not have gotten these done without the help. seriously i would have been working on these up until the day before the wedding. they look fantastic and i can't wait to put them on the tables. so much texture, i love it.

Jordan has finished his table, if you saw what it looked like before in an earlier post... this is a 200% improvement! i love it and i can't wait to see it this weekend! my part of the bargain is that i need to make 4 place-mats before i head down.

happy valentine's day everyone! I ordered the save the dates last week and they came today! i couldn't believe it. they turned out exactly the way i wanted, and since they were 'free' i can't complain at all!

so as soon as i finish getting everyone's address' i'll be able to send these suckers out! the cool thing is that they are hinting at something everyone will see at the wedding.. i'm not telling what it is but i am sooo very excited about it. seriously. lets see if you even notice it. my mother says only half of the people who get them will actually notice.

jordan and i have been working on a project. his mom gave him one of their old tables and after a good stripping and sanding it's nice and new. this weekend we began staining it to a "dark walnut" its so exciting working together on a project that will soon be in our house/apartment together. the table is looking fabulous. he just finished sanding the legs and will probably stain them tonight!

the first image is what the table looked like when we got it. There is a fine layer of ash all over it making it look dull and disgusting. the second image is just after we stained it. we still need to polyurethane, but isn't it gorgeous!!!

drowning in burlap... yup that's right. i've taken on another project that is kinda big (no surprise there) no big details but don't be surprised if you walk into the reception to find burlapeverwhere. lol and when you do see anything burlap it was made by your's truly.

i have recently been compiling a "to do list" and lets say that it is getting longer by the hour. currently i have racked up fifty-five different projects/things to do. from table runners to gathering smooth stones to put in vase's centerpieces... i am currently working on the save-the-date as of now. trying to decide what to do, what to use, etc. this is the part where i will be most critical of myself. worrying about typography, uniqueness, texture, overall design, the way the design is carried across different media. i love it! but i just hope i choose well, i have a tendency of choosing one thing then a few months later thinking well shoot i should have done it this way. i guess that's the way with all artists... continually critiquing their work. ah well.

2. I really want to twirl in it
3. Can i have dangly earrings?
lol i'm just waiting for more stipulations, and I haven't even heard from gabrielle (jordan's cousin, the second flower girl yet).

two hundred sixty one

it's finally here, the best year in the world. 20-11. this engagement is now on it's official official countdown since we are finally in the same year as the wedding. it's amazing how slow and fast this waiting period goes, it's already been a year that we have been engaged. that just shocks me, yet at the same time... A YEAR! i've had to wait three hundred and sixty five and i still have two hundred and sixty one days left. Lord give me patience.

i know not many are keeping up with this blog (especially me), that's the bad thing about a long engagement. this becomes 'old news' for most everyone, i've already had the comments "oh, i thought you got married a while ago..." HA nope i'm still in the countdown period. since there is only a year left and that this is resolution making time I'm going to do my best to post once a week. this kind of thing only happens once in a lifetime.

another sign of a 'too' long engagement: it has been so long that people have had their feelings hurt because they weren't "invited to the wedding," or they "still haven't gotten an invite yet..." seriously people? we haven't even sent out the save the date (that is coming soon though, i think all the wedding calendars point to 6-9 months before hand so we will be in that time period very soon) let alone the actual invitations. those won't be sent out till around early june. so patience please.
