two hundred forty seven

drowning in burlap... yup that's right. i've taken on another project that is kinda big (no surprise there) no big details but don't be surprised if you walk into the reception to find burlapeverwhere. lol and when you do see anything burlap it was made by your's truly.
.

i have recently been compiling a "to do list" and lets say that it is getting longer by the hour. currently i have racked up fifty-five different projects/things to do. from table runners to gathering smooth stones to put in vase's centerpieces... i am currently working on the save-the-date as of now. trying to decide what to do, what to use, etc. this is the part where i will be most critical of myself. worrying about typography, uniqueness, texture, overall design, the way the design is carried across different media. i love it! but i just hope i choose well, i have a tendency of choosing one thing then a few months later thinking well shoot i should have done it this way. i guess that's the way with all artists... continually critiquing their work. ah well.

four hundred twenty nine

my color so i have been struggling to find a real-world example of the green color that i am aiming for for the wedding. i've seen it on an online picture of a bridesmaids dress but that's been the only time. well as i was walking outside during my lunch today i saw it. THE color, the one i have been trying to explain away. and guess what i found it on?! .... a jeep. simply perfect. so everyone, this is the color that i have been trying, unsuccessfully, to explain/show you. according to jeep this is called optic green metallic, according to my favorite dress swatch its called metallic sage. therefore i have concluded that it is a metallicy green/sage color. hereinafter referred to as sage. hooray

four hundred thirty five

four hundred thirty five is a much less intimidating number than the starting six hundred thirty two, it's almost a whole two hundred days shorter! a friend of mine just got engaged recently and she only has to wait (as of today) one hundred twelve days. in fact i know of six other people who either got engaged just before us or recently and all of their dates are before mine. oooh september 24th 2011 you still seem so far away.

so i continue my search for ideas. if you know me, you know i love trees and have ended up incorporating them into my designs unconsciously. i also love candles so what better way then to put the two of those together?! my thoughts exactly.

four hundred fifty nine

okay bear with me, certain things about this wedding planning make me extremely excited, but i realize that sometimes to you, they are the most boring thing ever. well today's post might just put you in a stupor, realizing that, i apologize up front and ask you to again, bear with me.
centerpieces....duhn duhn duhhhhhhhn (i warned you), i have officially chosen four centerpieces to alternate between the many tables at the reception. one of which will be your home base for the evening. not wanting to spoil the surprise completely i have sketched them out for you.
one will be a lantern, another will be an iron work scroll thing that holds votives, the third one will be this charming little reminds-me-of-a-milk-jug vase that will hold roses, and the last one will be a tall elegant vase that holds some sort of amazing flower....yep this is what i am so very excited about. but the thing that makes me even more stoked about these centerpieces, is the most wonderful deal i got at joanne's fabric for votive holders and candles. seriously i ended up walking out of there with 72 glass votive holders and 96 candles! this probably doesn't get a hallelujah chorus but it still made my day.

four hundred eighty four

color inspiration....here is the first color, the main color. i want a sage green. this would possibly be used for the bridesmaid's dresses, flowers, decorations...etc. this first swatch is the closest color, then different shades will be mixed with the white/ivory.
i am in love with this cake/candy table. the green is used sparingly with white as the predominant shade. the balloons and the overall washed out picture give this table a light, airy feeling. perfect for a wedding setting. stunning!
i've also found that this green and ivory combination is natural enough to blend with the rich wood at the reception. i just wish i could mimic this table setting and have these amazing chairs. however the hall comes with some nice black folding chairs, which will work just fine.
after seeing this cup and the pearl/jade jewelry, i wonder if this color is budding from my ceramic work... this cup is glazed in a celedon hue. now granted 'celedon' can refer to a color that is green to a color that is more blue as seen below...

five hundred fifteen

the website, a project that will hopefully pull together soon. here is a screen shot of the home page as of now. i've been trying to make sure that i include everything that you would need to know about the big day and the events leading up to it.
i got really excited when i found out how to in-bed a google calendar into my website so you can easily get information about everything. including date, time, place, directions...its wonderful.

another exciting thing that has happened are the shoes are in! for the bridal party jordan and i have decided to have everyone wear Toms Shoes. (if you haven't heard about toms shoes, they are the company where if you buy a pair of shoes, they then give a pair of shoes to a child in need www.tomsshoes.com) so we were able to help 14 kids with our purchase!
for the groomsmen we got them the black canvas shoes...for the bridesmaids classic whites....and i got lucky and got some white glitters! i attached a few pictures below, they are so comfortable and they are for a great cause, if you're interested in getting a pair of your own for everday use or if you want to join us on the big day in your own pair check out the link above or click on the banner below. they are such a great company

five hundred nineteen

Stationary. this is an important part for me, being a graphic designer and all. i really have no idea where i want to head style wise. im drawn to a semi classic style but with some modern twists... who knows what that means.
the colors we have chosen are going to be a sage green and a navy blue. (now for those of you who don't understand 'picking colors,' and there are quite a few of you out there, this means that these are the accent colors throughout the whole wedding. yes white is a given, but there needs to be some kind of color scheme to accent all this white. so the sage is going to be the main accent with the navy as the secondary accent.)
here are a few stationary designs that have caught my eye. the third picture is an adorable idea where the couple takes pictures holding different numbers that correspond with the table numbering. then they are either placed at the table or within the escort cards. so adorable. which brings me to another point... i finally chose my photographer! SJMacky Photography take a look at her at her site, she has a very fun energetic style. great candid shots. i'm so very excited.
